Specialty Coffee and Espresso in Downtown Birmingham

Our downtown cafe sits on 3rd Avenue North in the Theater District, inside Fountain Heights. Stop in before a show, between meetings, or for a slow morning with a pour-over. We serve espresso drinks, drip coffee, matcha, pastries, tacos, and wine, all made with coffee we roast ourselves in Birmingham.

Planning an office event? We also offer corporate coffee catering across downtown. You can visit our other cafes in Cahaba Heights and Mountain Brook, or shop our full coffee selection online.

Customer Reviews

"Cala Coffee is a staple for coffee lovers. My family judges a shop by their cortados, kid steamers, pastry options, and interior design—and Cala nails all of it."

Justin P.

"Cala is one of my favorite places to be in Birmingham! They have great drinks for coffee and tea people. Currently, my favorite is the autumn matcha."

Alejandra V.

"Perfect spot if you’re walking around downtown and want a cozy place to recharge."

Bhumibol S.

"The coffee was nice and fresh, with a real recently-ground goodness. The staff was beyond friendly."

Leslie B.

"Very easygoing atmosphere that is pleasant for a sit and read or popping in for something on the go."

Emily Gill
